Elisabeth Betancourt, LCSW has been in the social service field for over 20 years. She started her career volunteering for both a rape crisis center and domestic violence agencies in central Illinois. Upon completing her undergraduate degree she moved back to the suburbs of Chicago and began working for 2 different domestic violence agencies.

While working for these agencies Elisabeth became well versed in crisis management, safety planning, understanding the rights to survivors, and developing a therapeutic relationship with the clients she served (children through adults). While working at these agencies Elisabeth was also able to obtain her Masters degree in social work from Aurora University.

Upon completion of her degree Elisabeth was hired as a school social worker. In this role Elisabeth has served a preschool through 6th grade population in a district in the western Cook County area. She has served both the general education and special education setting.

Elisabeth has served as the social worker for a self contained classroom for children whose behaviors and emotions impeded their ability to access their education in the general education setting. She is well versed in behavior interventions for children who have anxiety, ADHD, anger, emotional dysregulation, and autism. Elisabeth has worked hard to establish positive relationships with the parents of the students she serves so that school and home can work as a team to best meet the needs of the student.

Elisabeth uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies and techniques to help clients identify with their negative thought patterns. Additionally, she practices person-centered, strengths based, and solution-based therapy. Elisabeth’s goal is to help her clients identify their goals and create a safe path to achieve these goals.
