Laura Langes, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in child, adolescent, and family psychology. She has extensive experience providing therapy to youth and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, difficult behaviors at home or school, and problems stemming from life changes. Dr. Langes is particularly passionate about treating youth and adults with PTSD, complex trauma, developmental trauma, and dissociative disorders including DID. In addition to being a Certified Child & Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP) and Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS-CA), she is certified in EMDR Therapy, an evidence-based trauma treatment.
Dr. Langes approaches her clients with warmth, empathy, acceptance, and honesty. She strives to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients are empowered to create meaning from their difficult life experiences and open up to new ways of thinking, feeling, and being. Dr. Langes pays particular attention to understanding her clients within their unique cultural, social, and developmental contexts. Treatment is individualized to the client, building on client strengths and promoting positive identity development. She is an LGBTQ+ affirming provider, with specific experience helping trans/non-binary clients navigate their gender identity journeys. For children and adolescents, treatment methods are expanded to include play, expressive, and sand tray therapies. Therapy services with Dr. Langes can be provided both in-person and online. She is authorized through PSYPACT to provide telehealth services to clients in most states.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Langes is passionate about community education, presenting on topics such as youth mental health, suicide loss and prevention, racial trauma, pandemic-related trauma, mindful parenting, and self-care. She also provides professional development and consultation services to schools and school districts on how to be trauma-informed and create an equitable culture of care for all students and staff.
Dr. Langes received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (Child & Adolescent Track). She has worked in a variety of treatment settings including community mental health centers, a specialized foster care agency, public and therapeutic day schools, and a psychiatric inpatient hospital.
